This prayer, offered by Tom Leiser at our 2018 Celebration Dinner, reflects our recognition of God’s love and provision for the work He allows us to do at Vision Africa.

Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

We are so blessed to be here with you tonight to celebrate how You have chosen to use Vision Africa.  Our lives are blessed each and every day by your presence in them.

Father you are a God of Love.  Jesus taught us that the greatest commandment is to Love You with all our hearts, all our souls and all our minds.  And then He went on to say that the second greatest commandment was to love our neighbor as ourselves.  We are so thankful, Father, that you continue to love us, even when we fall short of these commandments.

You first loved us, so that we would know how to love you.  In fact, you loved us before the foundation of the world.  Our finite minds cannot grasp that concept Father.  Your love for us did not start because of something we did to earn your love; nor did it start when we were physically born or even when we were conceived by our parents.  No, Your love for us began before the beginning of earth itself.  All humans who have ever been conceived are so precious to you, our Creator, that you loved all of us before the beginning of time.  That you knew us and loved us before we were even conceived is a concept that is truly too great and too powerful for us to comprehend.  Your love is so wide and so deep for us that you know every hair on our head.

Father, we know that everything we have comes from you, our financial resources, our talents, our health, and even our remaining time on earth, it all belongs to you and we are just your steward.  We ask that you guide us in ways that recognize it all belongs to you, Father.

Jesus taught us that there is no greater love than a man being willing to lay down his life for another, and that is exactly what He did for each of us in this room, and for every man and woman who has ever lived.  Lord Jesus, You sacrificed your life for each of our sins and yet You continue to love us all!  Again, this agape love is beyond our feeble ability to comprehend.

Holy Spirit, thank you for the inspiration that you gave Bishop Sunday which led to the creation of Vision Africa.  Your charge to Sunday was to share God’s love with the African people.  We thank you for all the ways that you have inspired Vision Africa and allowed us to share that love with the people of Nigeria.  We pray that you will continue to bless Vision Africa and we give you praise and thanksgiving for it.  Those of us who were on the trip to Nigeria in June felt particularly blessed, and in some ways, we felt like we were re-living the Book of Acts.  We had the opportunity to witness you in action, Holy Spirit.  We visited the first church plant of Vision Africa which is now flourishing with over 500 members; we witnessed 4 new church plants, one of which already has over 70 regular attendees, we witnessed over 2,100 people receiving free medical treatments and the treatment was a real, modern day miracle for these people.  We witnessed hundreds of people profess their faith in Christ alone, while kneeling in a Nigerian downpour in fact, we witnessed one woman so overcome with sorrow and then joy that she lay writhing in the mud during one of these torrential rains.

We were privileged to witness the power of the Vision Africa radio station LOVE 104.1 FM.  We heard from people whose lives were saved and whose lives were transformed by the sharing of your Word with them via the radio.  Father, we are so grateful for the changed lives and for the privilege of witnessing this small sliver of heaven itself.

Thank you for allowing all of us here to be a part of this work.  For Father, we know that prayer is not only preparation for greater works, it is the greater work and we have been praying for Vision Africa and we are now all praying to you praising and thanking you for Vision Africa and for all of the people who have helped build and support it.  We are also begging you, Holy Spirit, to lead us only where you would want Vision Africa to go for this is not our ministry or even Bishop Sunday’s ministry, this is YOUR ministry and we ask that you guide us tonight and into the future in ways that are pleasing to you.

We ask all of this in Jesus’ holy and precious name, Amen

Local, regional, national or international…how does your church provide opportunities for the congregation as a whole, or the individual members, to financially support faith-based ministries and spiritual initiatives that spread the word of God? Are you bogged down in the process of finding the right recipient for your gifts? Is the money actually going to where it is intended? What impact, if any, is your gift having and how do you know? Is the recipient organization representative of the culture and heart of the congregation?

There is so much need, so many individuals and groups asking for money you can’t see the proverbial forest for the trees. So where do you begin? Here are 3 easy steps to determining a path and process for directing the course of how your giving can fulfill the wishes of individual donors and even a whole congregation.

P – “P” is for Preserve. Make a list of what benevolence programs are currently in place, who heads them up and has there been any formal review or evaluation conducted recently. What level of support do they receive from individual donors, or the church overall, and is there a mechanism in place to measure results? The idea is to identify those initiatives that are in-place and viable and determine what needs to be done to sustain them.

E – “E” is for Expand. Once you have identified the existing viable programs and what is needed to sustain them, the next step is to develop a plan to Expand them into more robust versions of themselves. Select a “Development Leader or Task Force” ask them to plot a course to take these valuable, existing ministries to the next level and beyond.

P – This “P” is for Pursue. You have settled on the core beneficiaries of your giving and planned a way to expand those relationships. Now it may be time to look further over the horizon and explore new areas to focus on and direct resources toward. We would like you to prayerfully consider Vision Africa.

The BIBLE BRIDGE and CHURCHMD are programs whereby your donations are directed specifically to carefully defined initiatives.

BIBLE BRIDGE provides a high-quality, leather bound Bible to newly ordained ministers. These Bibles are their primary teaching and study guide and will last for many, many years.
CHURCHMD is a unique program that covers the cost of a church planting and a simultaneous roll-out of a medical mission. Spiritual and physical health go hand-in-hand, providing a path of blessings from one to the other.

Vision Africa will provide all the necessary materials, guidance and accountability reporting on how programs like these can be part of your giving plan. Please contact us today to find out more about Vision Africa.
